Bob's Adventure Blog seems to get lots of hammocks to review. And truthfully we love it! We've had a better nights rest in a hammock than we've (almost) had in any tent! Hammocks are versatile, lightweight, and fun. Most hammocks are quite similar... fairly lightweight, two piece design, some sort of daisy chain hanging system... the list goes on! If you look on Amazon these days, you can find every kind of hammock... single, double, triple, camping, backpacking, nylon, ripstop, etc, etc... This makes it hard to stand out in the hammock world... For a long time, I've been using the Grand Trunk Nano 7 hammock in my backpack, and I love it! In steps Geaux Hammocks... A complete hammock system... 1.9oz Ripstop Nylon (a single piece too), double stuff sack, AND a cinch buckle hanging stystem! When I reached out to Geaux for a review, Clark Smith was actually meeting with some local companies near me so he HAND DELIVERED the hammock... To say he likes hammocks would be an understatement... His passion for hammocking shines through in the quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in these hammocks. I wasn't necessarily skeptical about Geaux Hammocks, but I didn't expect what I got... This hammock is QUALITY! To start, the hanging system isn't some cheap nylon rope or daisy chain...it's a cinch buckle with two 12' straps. It's easy on trees and even easier to set up! It comes in a double ended stuff sack, which at first doesn't sound like anything special, but let me tell you... setting up a hammock is much easier when you don't have to drag it through the dirt when connecting it to trees...you can carefully pull the hammock out of the sack as you walk towards your tree. The whole package only weighs 21.6oz, and is rated up to 400lbs. This means myself, my wife, and our new daughter can relax in this. PLUS it's eleven feet long, which means you can really get a comfy lay in it! That being said, having a baby changes your "go out for a quick overnight" opportunities, so I haven't had the chance to spend any time overnight in this. I have, however, spent lots of lazy afternoons in this hammock and absolutely love it! I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity to take this out on an extended trip! Geaux Hammocks are out of Fairbanks, LA and hand sewn in Mountain Home, AR which is awesome that you can support a US made company! Whether you're new to the hammock game or an experienced hammock junkie (like me), you'll get great enjoyment out of this hammock. We honestly didn't have any cons for this hammock, and with good reason... it's truly an "all in one" setup that exceeds expectation... Do yourself a favor and pick up a Geaux Hammock. You won't regret it!
They are comfortable, durable, and proudly made in the USA! Hopefully we will see these in more retailers as time goes on! They are affordably priced at $119.95 (keep in mind, this is a complete hammock system, so no need to buy anything else).
